About FBC of Pacific Beach
On April 24, 1943, 16 residents of the small community of Pacific Beach, California met in a neighborhood home. Their purpose was to establish a new church in the Pacific Beach community. The population of Pacific Beach was about 6,000 at the time. They named their new church Pacific Beach Baptist Church. Pacific Beach Baptist Church soon became the fourth member of the San Diego Southern Baptist Association. Weekly worship services were held at the Pacific Beach Women’s Club.
In the fall of 1945 ground was broken for a sanctuary. Pacific Beach Baptist Church was renamed to First Baptist Church of Pacific Beach in 1954. The congregation grew, and the original buildings were remodeled and expanded several times before they were finally outgrown. In 1975 the church procured a new church site. The new site had a spectacular view of San Diego. On a clear day you could see the hillsides in Tijuana, Mexico.
First Baptist Church of Pacific Beach is a loving group of godly individuals that desire to see their church reach its fullest potential.
Hickory Grove Baptist Church and the North American Mission Board are partnering with the church to send Justin Paslay as their senior pastor and prayerfully see a work of God done in San Diego. They desire to help First Baptist Church of Pacific Beach become a vibrant outpost for the Gospel.
